PRECAUTION

Please take care when setting the volume on this tool, particularly when using headphones

Ideally, this tool would be used under the supervision of one of our Consultants.

If you use this demonstrator without supervision, please note that we cannot be held responsible for any damage.

This demonstration works best on a desktop or laptop computer. Please ensure that the volume on your device is correctly adjusted so that the 1000 Hz tone (the ‘loudest’) will be at an acceptable level.

Once the volume on your device is set, please do not adjust it until you have finished using this demonstrator.

Instructions for use

  1. The generator is set to start at 1000 Hz (as indicated in the text box below). Make sure the volume on your phone or computer is set low to start with – this should be the ‘loudest’ tone that you can hear.
  2. Press ‘play’ to listen to the tone.
  3. Move the slider to hear all frequencies from 1 Hz to 20,000 Hz, or 20 kHz.
  4. Use the control buttons to apply an increment or decrement to the tone.
  5. Press ‘stop’ to stop the sound playing.
